I am astonished and delighted to learn that The Fisherman has made National Public Radio’s 100 Favorite Horror Stories List. Seeing my book listed alongside those of good friends such as Laird Barron, Gemma Files, Victor LaValle, Livia Llewellyn, and Paul Tremblay is terrific; seeing it rubbing shoulders with work by Stephen King and Peter Straub borders the surreal. Thank you to everyone who voted for it, and to the judges for all their hard work.
Well deserved!
Thanks very much!
I am so glad to see it on there (but not surprised in the least). I keep recommending it to friends, really liked it.
Am looking forward to your next book.
Thanks very much!
Hi
Can you direct me to your agent?
Thank you.
Kind regards.

Congratulations on having The Fisherman named to NPR’s Top 100 Horror Stories! I look forward to reading it soon. I wonder though if I might ask you a question about a different story you wrote. In Datlow’s anthology, “Children of Lovecraft,” you have a fun tale called “The Supplement.” I’ve read it now and I enjoyed it, particularly the scene where you describe how the pages were made. But I can’t for the life of me figure out why you decided to title the story thusly. Could you shed some light on how you chose the title?
Thanks for the kind words! The name of the story is taken from the name of the book; thematically, it relates to the idea of the book supplementing its reader’s lived experience, filling in those losses in their lives in a way that is deeply, and fatally, addictive.
Thank you!
